Boxing Day 2014 was a bright, clear, crisp sort of day with little wind and above normal temps, so we decided to have a long walk at Sandy Hook for a glimpse at the off-season.

Anyone interested in opening a bed & breakfast at Fort Hancock? Or an office building for a non-profit organization? Perhaps a multi-unit residence? The National Parks Service have issued a Request for Proposals to lease six buildings for various uses in order to breathe new life into this sleepy historic location. Perhaps my dream of living at Sandy Hook could one day become a reality.

Happy New Year, everyone!

We spent a couple of days in Chantry, Somerset, visiting with Andrew, Freddy, and their 3 new kittens.

Although the weather was unfriendly, they took us out to see a few sites in the countryside – the ruins of an old ironworks in Mells, the Village of Glastonbury, and Cheddar Gorge.

I’d love to revisit these sites during pleasant weather. But if we were to let good weather dictate our travels in the UK, we would just stay home.

A gray day for a walk down Hackney Road, but a bit of street art brightened the day.
